And Red Leaves Blew....

This sequence of photos was taken from our back deck on the last day of Spooky's Haunted Yard.
The storm rolled in so quickly that I couldn't make it out front to secure stuff. Fortunately it was over as quickly as it came.

The deck view is always outstanding for storm watching
as you can see above the valley for several miles

The storm rolled in in about 3 minutes

And the winds exploded into a vortex of autumn leaves!

HALLOWEEN - October 31, 2012

"You can get back in there and get back on that telephone and tell them exactly who walked out of here last night and tell them exactly where he's going." - Loomis

Halloween 2012 could very well have been a dreary, over-windy, soak-athon due to Frankenstorm but just at the right time the winds died and the candles were lit. A perfect evening of flickering jack-o-lanterns, green and orange mists, crunching leaves and bewildered kids, surprised at what vision they would find as they climbed the hill and broke through the trees to see Spooky's Haunted Yard.
The only difficulty was choosing the coolest photos.. For every one here, there are half a dozen unposted..

Halloween!
How many ghouls can you find in the fog? This photo is completely unedited.
The Green Ghoul returns!

Look closely at the fog - ghouls in the mist!

It doesn't hurt to have a cool, gothic door with a gated peep.

Even Spooky was getting in on the fun..

Gated

Several gate encounters in the last day. The only one they would let me through was the cemetery gate. Go figure.

This afternoon's hunt for haunt materials was a spectacle of blazing, burning fall color.

The Spooky Franklin Button Series

This year Evil Pumpkins aka Creepy Pumpkins hosts a booth at the annual Franklin Pumpkinfest. Assuming the masses aren't ready for Creeping Cruds swag we are doing up some pins that tie the historic town, this blogue and our Pumpkin team. We will have a pin set that will include a five of local photos under the title Spooky Franklin. The first two photos are stages of the Pumpkin Graveyard, seen elsewhere here.. The last three are a couple of random Franklin faves taken over the past year...

Radnor Lake

Came across these shots from last winter's visit to Radnor Lake. Creepy fun shots..

Haddonfield TN

For years it's been a desire to celebrate Halloween in a more "Halloween" type environment with spooky, mature, street-side trees and decorated front yards etc. Walking around the front yard and sidewalk area the dream is realized! It apparently takes 10 years to go from "new" home with scrawny, fresh planted trees to tall, dense thicket, uneven sidewalks and all the great spooky views that come at dusk and dark but we finally have achieved the full Halloween street-side spread. Though the real Haddonfield is somewhere near Pasadena, the one in my my mind is always Illinois and now right here in Tennessee. Come October it's nice to be able to soak up the real thing. 10 years of patience pays off

The Original "Haddonfield"..
