All Saints Day Recovery

The Halloween storms were something to behold. The wreckage is everywhere.

As we prepare to set up tonight's haunt on this perfect fall day (almost - it could be a few degrees cooler I thought I'd post a pic of what it looks like today in Middle Tennessee..

A Day Later

Two posts back I spoke of not screwing with Halloween..
Well the one person that can override it - has done just that.

Mother Nature

In any other scenario I would vote on the side of keeping the fun on the actual night of the 31st, but the soggy stuff has arrived and we celebrate Halloween on All Saints Day (Nov 1) instead this year.

My neighborhood has switched things at the last minute as well so we proceed as though we got an extra day of the season...

Safe Haunting~

Halloween Extended due to The Devil's Pecker

The Devil's Pecker

These storm fronts that swing across the nation from north to south border are referred to as The Devil's Pecker.

This year the Pecker swingeth 'cross the valley on Halloween.

Obviously this ruins any haunt plans for the 31st. Fortunately Nov 1 appears to be spooky perfect. Despite the date change I predict the best haunt to date.
Can't wait to snap some shots with the new camera this year!

The Great Halloween Rainout

With a massive cold front bearing down on the south on Halloween night, bringing  an 80% chance of thunderstorms it appears Spooky Franklin will have to be set up the next night (Fri Nov 1).
Fortunately, Friday looks to be a perfect weather.
I am not happy about any of this.

Argh.

And Red Leaves Blew....

This sequence of photos was taken from our back deck on the last day of Spooky's Haunted Yard.
The storm rolled in so quickly that I couldn't make it out front to secure stuff. Fortunately it was over as quickly as it came.

The deck view is always outstanding for storm watching
as you can see above the valley for several miles

The storm rolled in in about 3 minutes

And the winds exploded into a vortex of autumn leaves!

Frankenstorming Halloween

That's right monster kids, Frankenstorm is predicted to hit at the worst possible time and Halloweeners and haunters alike from the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, to Philly to parts of Canada..
Here in Tennessee, while it may be colder than normal we should be fine - so I encourage all you Halloween faithful to send good vibes up north to likes of PumpkinRot and other fine folks who wait all year to do their thing - and acknowledge that even if they have to Haunt on another night, they have our full support!

Frankenstorm gives me a sad..

Approaching

Came across these cool pics of an almost-tornado in early 2012, Franklin, TN. This could have easily been the end...
