First Creeping Cruds release in some time. Features new Cruds singer Jimmy 2Beards Foust.
We almost got arrested making it down at the old City Cemetery, but fortunately we talked our way out of it! Enjoy...

The Pumpkin Graveyard - Day 15

A day after making the trip out to photograph the pumpkins and realizing the camera had no storage card I returned with the necessary equipment. Of course today was miserably wet (yesterday was about perfect) but I think it adds some personality to the shots. A few pumpkins couldn't stay intact after thawing from a freeze while others seem to hang on. It will probably be two weeks before I can visit again.

I think this is the final time see see any before they melt into orange and brown globs….

Messing with Lighting

Still had the lighting and extension cords out from Halloween.. Perfect time to run some lighting tests at the local graveyard. With ongoing temps of around 50 degrees you couldn't ask for a better way to make use of the early dark - which is happening around 4:30 these days with the recent time change.
Working out some kinks with these shots - but they do show promise for something cool in the future..

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2014 - Day 1

All the pumpkins got transported to the woods today. This year I set up a special corral for them with the most recent scarecrows watching over. Hopes are that 'seasoning' these props (including the fences) will add to the flavor for next year. The pumpkins and straw typically go back to the earth by the following spring. Corn will be planted inside the corral around that time. Should be good for continuous nice shots up until next Halloween!

Horror Rises From Grave in Franklin!

Chance find on south Caruthers in Franklin. I really need to get out and bookmark these spots where horror-love trumps traditional Franklin religious freakout.
Nighttime shot needed a tripod, which I didn't have with me.. Hopefully I get a chance to re-visit.
Looking to cruise downtown Franklin this year on the the 30th in hopes they will be set up..
I'll report with pics!

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 28

Day 28. The old fellows are surprisingly spry after almost a solid month that included just about every type of weather imaginable for a November.

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 13

These pics are a few days old and I won't likely be able to get out and get new shots before our weeklong trip to Scottsdale, so I suspect the next time we see these guys they will be in full meltdown mode.
G'bye fellas...

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 4

A quick four days turnaround - mainly to drop off the last three fellows at their new home.
I wonder what some random hunter coming down out of the hills might think if they can across this..

From as far back as you can stand before disappearing into the hollow

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 1

The Pumpkin Graveyard was set up today.
It gave me a sad.

As did those that came before - our pumpkins will sink into the center spot of the Pumpkin Graveyard.
Possibly the richest soil in all of Tennessee after 5 years of repeating this in the exact same spot..

Pumpkin Graveyard - Day 20

In all the years of doing the Pumpkin Graveyard I have not seen pumpkins hold up this nicely after three weeks.

Night Creatures

Day 4 of the Pumpkin Graveyard was a very creepy night visit.
Driving off-road through the woods in rural Tennessee in pitch black is an experience..

Pumpkin Graveyard 2012 - Day 1

28 of the 29 pumpkins made it to the graveyard this year. One jumped ship on the way and embarked on his own journey.

Sadly, the cold withering of this year's pumpkin leaves revealed approximately
20 baby pumpkins that will suffer a frosty demise. The summer was just too hot...
