SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2019

It was bound to happen. It was so cold on the night that by the time trick or treating was over and I had some time to break out the camera that my hands were completely numb and my eyes were fried from the fire pit. So this year all my shots are sadly iPhone pics..

This year the weather was super complicated so I opted for a simpler graveyard scene instead of the larger fence/sentinel setup. I have three full available scenes that at some point will combine for a massive yard haunt experience some year in the future when it's not raining or freezing..
Maybe 2020. Until then - enjoy!

SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2018

SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2018 is in the books. This was not a great year but I made past heart surgery, which really zaps your energy so I had no choice but to downsize the haunt by about half this year. Nobody even noticed and I ended up having way more kids and neighbors than any other year so far. The weather was trying to ruin things and for the first 45 minutes or so after sunset it drizzled a bit, then went into perfect Halloween night weather. It was a good time hanging out in the middle of the driveway watching oldie horrors with befuddled neighbors who had a few too many by then. Next year I hope to be back to normal energy levels.

On a sidenote, my Google domain SpookyFranklin.com expired while I wasn't paying attention. So now Google wants $100 to reinstate the domain. Fuck them. That's highway robbery. So keep in mind if you ever want to visit the blog head on out to spookyfranklin.blogspot.com

Enjoy the pics and head on over to Flickr for all the pics! https://www.flickr.com/photos/jeanoroid/albums/72157703029586214

NEW CREEPING CRUDS VIDEO - I EATS THE DEAD (2018)

First Creeping Cruds release in some time. Features new Cruds singer Jimmy 2Beards Foust.
We almost got arrested making it down at the old City Cemetery, but fortunately we talked our way out of it! Enjoy...

SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2017

Another season in the books. Possibly the most perfect Halloween weather since starting this haunted yard. Best kid turnout by far. Showed Mad Monster Party and House of Frankenstein to the neighbors. Loads of horror trailers. Friends came and went, including Binx the tabby (in the pics).
I'm baffled as to how much work is involved in the set up of this haunt, and it seems like there is literally not an extra minute to spare the entire month leading up to this night.

October sadly is in the books. I hate that. Here comes winter..

The entire album is of course at my Flickr spot: SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2017 but here are a select few pics that represent how things looked this Halloween. Enjoy!

SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2016!

2016 was a greatly disadvantaged year for me on a personal level but I still managed to pull off a somewhat subdued yard haunt on my own. This year was the year of "Spooky Franklin Theater" featuring a triple feature of The Bride of Frankenstein, The Tingler and Spider Baby. It was great to hang out with wonderful friends under the quite hot Halloween stars for all three of these films and splashes of trick or treaters..
Aside from the images below - here is the full photo set on my Flickr page..
Enjoy!

Unretouched

Some hellish fiery sunset shots at home here in Franklin, TN just a few nights ago..
SEE PHOTOS HERE

A Peek at Krampus

Been wanting to do a Krampus 'traditional" Christmas prop for some time. No idea if the neighbors are ready for this - but with the release of the new film it's probably about as pop-culture as it's going to get. So if you are a neighbor of mine - no this is not Satan or Baphomet or any "evil" religious entity. It's just the guy that's going to steal your kids of you don't put some delicious cookies on my porch on Christmas Eve!

Got a bit more detail work to do but here's a snap to hold ya over..

#GreatPumpkinProject

This was my short-lived, thoroughly rained-out contribution to the Great Pumpkin Project. Like an idiot I forgot my tripod for night shooting so all I procured was a couple of cellphone snaps.
Went back a second night with a new candle and tripod and someone had smashed him into 100 pieces.
This is just off the square, downtown Franklin on an always spooky no-car stretch of road.
Lots of cars pass by this at night so I suspect it probably caught a few random eyeballs during it's brief life..

Spooky 2015

Here she is.. The ghost lady that started the madness..
Ms. Spooky (as named by neighborhood kids who noticed her before we even started putting a light on her)..

Dr. Gangrene 2015 Halloween PSA filmed at Spooky Franklin!

This Dr. Gangrene PSA was filmed a few weeks back by director Cameron McCasland and his team here at the Spooky Franklin house! We weren't starting decorations just yet so a few quick props were grabbed for the shoot. Maybe they'll come back and film in deep October!
Should be running on Nashville TV and abroad in the coming days...

Awards for Ghoulishness

This year's trophies for The Horror Hootenanny. Had the most fun making these vs all the different ones from years past. I hope whoever wins them adds them to a cool horror shelf or some dank crimson altar.. Can't wait to see who wins "Bloodiest Costume"!
As always by Evil Pumpkins.

Season of The Vine II

You can almost see them move
Extending and connecting. Constricting, suffocating
Loosen here just tightens there
Disappear into the flora

2015's first Spooky Franklin prop takes on a life of its own

The Pumpkin Graveyard - Day 15

A day after making the trip out to photograph the pumpkins and realizing the camera had no storage card I returned with the necessary equipment. Of course today was miserably wet (yesterday was about perfect) but I think it adds some personality to the shots. A few pumpkins couldn't stay intact after thawing from a freeze while others seem to hang on. It will probably be two weeks before I can visit again.

I think this is the final time see see any before they melt into orange and brown globs….
