The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 28

Day 28. The old fellows are surprisingly spry after almost a solid month that included just about every type of weather imaginable for a November.

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 13

These pics are a few days old and I won't likely be able to get out and get new shots before our weeklong trip to Scottsdale, so I suspect the next time we see these guys they will be in full meltdown mode.
G'bye fellas...

Santa Frank is Back!

CHRISTMAS FRANKENSTEIN

To honor a longstanding favorite monster-kid image we have created this Christmas Frankenstein Super Magnet as seen on the cover of Monster World 1965.
Yeah, it's just our Huge Glenn Strange super magnet with a Christmas hat glued on top - but what did you expect?

Keeping Christmas evil!

In the Works - Wolfman Super Magnet

Been wanting to expand beyond the Frank/Drac selection of Super Magnet portraits. Still some details to tweak but here is a pretty large Talbot Wolfman.

Probably will be early Dec. before I can get a few finished pieces in the Etsy Store..

Darkrose Manor 2013

I'm not entirely exactly sure what I'm looking at here on the Darkrose Manor page. It appears to be some sort of wintry horror catacomb or maybe Santa's nightmare.

Either way the pics over at Dark Rose Manor are pretty impressive.
Enjoy!

Don Post Monster Headpiece

From the Blood Curdling Blog of Monster Masks is this cool Glenn Strange Frankie topper discovery. I saw some modern versions of this at the big pumpkin tent this year and almost bought one.
This one is the hands-down the coolest Frankie topper that I have seen.
Another for the eBay wishlist!

NEW Evil Pumpkins Listing - MASSIVE Glenn Strange Frankenstein Super Magnet

Just finished! This very large handmade super magnet is a solid resin likeness of the Glenn Strange Frankenstein's Monster.

The biggest super magnet yet - shown in the second pic with our Karloff version.
Check how big this new guy is!

Celebrate the horror and protect your fridge at the same time!

NEW Evil Pumpkins Listing - Creep Skin & Vampire Blood Cult Trading Cards by Tom Bagley

AVAILABLE HERE

We are very proud to list seƱor Tom "Jackson Phibes" Bagley's fantastic collector cult card set Creep Skin and Vampire Blood. Tom individually hand-drew each portrait (front card) and detailed bits of vital info (back card). There's even a shout-out to your's truly on Card #1!

Not only is this an ode to some of the more obscure horror heroes but provides the reader with a rare checklist of must-see flicks (and episodes)! If you check off all 42 you are the King of All Horror!

I will admit that I have personally yet to track down all of these lovely films - but with the help of Tom's set I am working towards it.

We have just two of these for sale - and they are rare - so don't wait!

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 4

A quick four days turnaround - mainly to drop off the last three fellows at their new home.
I wonder what some random hunter coming down out of the hills might think if they can across this..

From as far back as you can stand before disappearing into the hollow

Bride of Frankenstein at The Orpheum

I snapped a pic of  this amazing shot (framed photo) of The Bride of Frankenstein premier at the Omaha Orpheum Theater.  Probably originally snapped in early 1936, the photo was displayed in a restaurant in the old town section of Omaha.
Close examination reveals that they really did it up with great props etc.
If you think about it - the inconic Karloff Frankenstein imagery was relatively still in its most juvenile stages. What a profound effect that imagery has had on Monster Kid Culture..

Wish they would do up The Franklin Theater like this and show some oldie faves!

In the Works - Ultimate Glenn Strange Super Magnet

Evil Pumpkins is now back in action post-Halloween. During that time I was contacted by several folks who had seen our Karloff Super Magnet on display at Franklin Pumpkinfest. In the display photo was one of only a few Glenn Strange(ish) Super Magnets we have created. The item wasn't exactly what we were looking to do so we sold sold the few and never put them online for sale.

Low and behold people are really interested in Glenn Strange Frankenstein - so I whipped up this mega-Super Magnet of Glenn. The biggest magnet thus far. The original positive clay is shown below.
Should have one or two (full color-plastic, magnet-mounted) in the store this weekend for anyone interested.
Enjoy!

The Pumpkin Graveyard 2013 - Day 1

The Pumpkin Graveyard was set up today.
It gave me a sad.

As did those that came before - our pumpkins will sink into the center spot of the Pumpkin Graveyard.
Possibly the richest soil in all of Tennessee after 5 years of repeating this in the exact same spot..

PUMPKINROT Haunt 2013

As he does every Halloween, the prop master king PumpkingRot has set the gold standard for yard haunts in 2013. Simply outstanding stuff.

I could stare at these pics for hours.
And I will.

Check out more here at the Scarecrow Catacomb

2013 Supplemental Photos

In addition to the official"Haunt Night" photos posted here yesterday we shot subsequent nights with lingering props. So yeah, these shots are from the next night..

SPOOKY FRANKLIN 2013 - PHOTOS

Spooky Franklin 2013 is in the books. That wretched storm front made us move the haunt to Nov 1st. but it was well worth the wait. We had a small get together with some friends including Dead Dick Hammer, Dead Doreen Laveau, Horror host Dr. Gangrene, several Creeping Cruds and our pal Bobby P. We set up an acoustic guitar circle and stumbled through a dozen or so Halloween-ish Cruds tunes..

This year's haunt included Giant Frankenstein, who was put together over the summer, Chang, Eng, a quad of special handmade Pumpkinrot type sentinels, the evil coffin and an all new witch scene. Spooky overlooked the street from the second story as always.

We had many kids and groups of adults stop by - all seemed to really enjoy the haunt - and cars crept by slowly all night.

This was our first crack at Halloween with my new camera and I think our results have improved significantly from prior seasons. Please spend some time digging through the pics and let me know if ya have any comments!

Happy haunting!
