The Pumpkin Graveyard 2014 - Day 1

All the pumpkins got transported to the woods today. This year I set up a special corral for them with the most recent scarecrows watching over. Hopes are that 'seasoning' these props (including the fences) will add to the flavor for next year. The pumpkins and straw typically go back to the earth by the following spring. Corn will be planted inside the corral around that time. Should be good for continuous nice shots up until next Halloween!

  1. Do you grow your own corn stalks and pumpkins?

  2. We have grown a few of both - mostly by accident.
Deer etc. tend to make a meal out of anything growing on this property. I'm hoping to change that this year though :-)

    1. I use a spray made from ghost peppers, garlic and soap to ward off the mule deer. It makes my yard smell like a Chinese restaurant but the deer don't like it. The only problem is that I have to spray often. Still its a lot cheaper than buying deer repellent at the nursery.

  3. Sounds like a good idea! Though ghost peppers are scary..
