And Red Leaves Blew....

This sequence of photos was taken from our back deck on the last day of Spooky's Haunted Yard.
The storm rolled in so quickly that I couldn't make it out front to secure stuff. Fortunately it was over as quickly as it came.

The deck view is always outstanding for storm watching
as you can see above the valley for several miles

The storm rolled in in about 3 minutes

And the winds exploded into a vortex of autumn leaves!

Witches Gather...

PumpkinRot delivers again - even after taking a punch in the gut from Frankenstorm 2012. I acknowledge that PR is my go-to source for unending, year-round Halloween visuals.. Look closely at the tree stump caldron. It's pure hand-made Hallowayoutness!

ALL SOULS DAY - November 2, 2012

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas, The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor, And the highwayman came riding— Riding—riding— The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

Pumpkins held up nicely for Night 3 as did the still weather. The one pic I'll post from All Souls Day..

SAMHAIN - November 1st 2012

"It was the start of the year in our old Celtic lands, and we'd be waiting... in our houses of wattles and clay. The barriers would be down, you see, between the real and the unreal, and the dead might be looking in... to sit by our fires of turf." -  Cochrane

The second night some placements were changed and some lighting swapped out - for a more orange overall look. The 6" blanket of red and yellow leaves did not survive the first night's crunching so they were cleaned out for Samhain..

HALLOWEEN - October 31, 2012

"You can get back in there and get back on that telephone and tell them exactly who walked out of here last night and tell them exactly where he's going." - Loomis

Halloween 2012 could very well have been a dreary, over-windy, soak-athon due to Frankenstorm but just at the right time the winds died and the candles were lit. A perfect evening of flickering jack-o-lanterns, green and orange mists, crunching leaves and bewildered kids, surprised at what vision they would find as they climbed the hill and broke through the trees to see Spooky's Haunted Yard.
The only difficulty was choosing the coolest photos.. For every one here, there are half a dozen unposted..

Halloween!
How many ghouls can you find in the fog? This photo is completely unedited.
The Green Ghoul returns!

Look closely at the fog - ghouls in the mist!

It doesn't hurt to have a cool, gothic door with a gated peep.

Even Spooky was getting in on the fun..
